You can have the best car wash in your city, with the best equipment and the best customer service and the best prices, but people are still going to drive right by your car wash if you don’t have some kind of signage put up to let them know you’re (1) there, and (2) a great car wash for them to patronize. Signs that are bright enough to be seen from the street, and big and clear enough to be READ from that distance, are a great way to raise awareness for your car wash and to gain customers as they drive by.
Once the customers have entered the car wash, the job of signage isn’t yet done. In addition to promotion, signs can also provide education: namely, where to drive first, how to operate the car wash equipment, how the vacuum cleaner works, how much everything costs, and what upsells are available at what price points. These signs don’t need to be visible from the street, but they do need to be clear, clean, and placed prominently so drivers don’t have to strain to look for them.
You may be wondering, isn’t signage expensive? There’s a car wash to run here, why should I cut into my profits to buy signage? Well, first, signage isn’t THAT expensive … even a very large banner visible/readable from street distance will only run you a couple hundred dollars. But, more importantly, signage is on-site promotion that will pay for itself in new customers very, very quickly. Even fairly modest signage will help bring in new customers on a daily basis.
