Kleen-Rite now offers a wide selection of stainless steel hose fittings! Our selection includes bushings, elbows, and nipples.
Why Stainless?
Stainless steel is a durable, corrosion-resistant metal. It is a good choice for use in situations where water or chemicals are present.
Stainless steel differs from “regular” steel in that it contains a blend of other metals. Nickel and chromium are very common choices. However, other metals may be present. Each blend’s properties reduce oxidation. As a result, fittings are less likely to rust away.
Types of Stainless Steel
Stainless steel products often have a number associated with them. This number is part of a universal steel grading system from the Society of Automotive Engineers. Each number in the code identifies part of the metal composition. The Steel Founders’ Society of America provides specific breakdowns of metal blends.
Example Grade | Metal Blend |
---|---|
10xx | Carbon |
13xx | Manganese |
23xx | Nickel |
31xx | Nickel-chromium |
40xx | Molybendum |
43xx | Nickel-Chromium-Molybendum |
50xx | Chromium |
61xx | Chromium-Vanadium |
92xx | Silicon-Manganese |
